COVID-19 Info

Starting April 6, 2020 Elk City High School Office hours will be from 9am-1pm Monday thru Thursday.

If ECHS students still need to check out a device, pick up locker contents or medicine. They will need to call the high school office at 225-0105 to set up an appointment.

👉 Regular Classes

✅ Virtual classes will begin April 6.

✅ Teachers will use Google Classroom or use email as a distance learning platform.

✅ Core classes will give two assignments per week.

✅ Elective classes will give 1 or 2 assignments per week.

✅ Assignments will be no longer than 30 minutes of combined online and self guided work.

✅ All assignments will have be prepared, posted, uploaded each Monday by 8 am. This allows for families to be able to check for new assignments at a certain starting point and not have the student checking daily for new assignments.

✅ Teachers will provide instruction for each assignment.

✅ Student assignments for the week need to be completed by Sunday at 10:00 p.m.

✅ Teachers will have set virtual “office hours” two times a week for an hour at a time either by Google Hangout, email or Remind. This allows students to drop into the hangout with the teacher to ask questions, participate in discussion, etc. Virtual Office hours will be set by their teacher. If a teacher teaches multiple subjects their hangouts may be used for each subject or combined with other subjects.

✅ Teachers will keep track of students joining the hangouts to better track student attendance and know which students might need to be checked on.

✅ PLC’s will continue to meet once a week in Google hangouts to stay on track and support each other.

✅ We will be using several online curriculums for instruction. (Ex: Fool-Proof, Everfi, ACT Academy, Khan Academy, Get More Math, Edpuzzles, etc.)

✅ If students need a device they may check one out through the district. The district will also provide wifi in the school parking lot where students can remain in their vehicles to complete work if needed.

✅ If we have students who need packets due to lack of WiFi or device, packets will be emailed to the students school email. Students will answer these questions on a sheet of paper, a photo taken and emailed back to their teacher.

✅ Grading and recording grades will continue. We will add to the third nine weeks grades and give the students a semester grade only at the end of the school year.

✅ Counseling services will be provided. Any teacher may refer students to the counselor for counseling support.

✅ EACH student needs to check their student email for instructions, and email teachers with any questions.

👉 Alternative Education

✅ Alt Ed students will continue to work in the virtual platform Odysseyware that has been used all year. Courses students are working on or need to graduate on time will be completely opened for students to work at their own pace.
